Allison Samuels
Two Tree Studios founder Allison Samuels designs and fabricates vessels, utensils, sculptural objects and custom wooden furniture out of her shop in East Williamsburg NY. Every piece is hand carved, sanded and finished with consideration for longevity, as well as a commitment to sustainable production and operational practices. Through an upbringing surrounded by forests, rivers and mountains, Samuels cultivated an early appreciation for the natural world. As such, her work emphasizes, and is dictated in part by, the unique properties she observes within raw material itself.
“I feel strongly that knowledge, skill, wealth & resources are gained through compounded privilege. It is my responsibility to first acknowledge my own privileges, and then work to chip away at barriers I can see for others.
After many years of working in a field that was not designed for me, I've learned how hard it is to enter and build a business from scratch. It is only because of the many privileges I do have, that I've been able to make it this far.
Therefore, I hope to remove barriers that I have faced, by sharing my acquired resources & networks with transparency, with the hope that this industry can expand for more people.”
