Paula Walters Parker

Artist, Painter and Art Instructor at Forsyth

Paula Parker is a visual artist and instructor from Kingston, Jamaica. She attended high school in Brooklyn, then went on to studied Fashion Merchandising and Marketing. She was offered the opportunity to study visual arts at Central St. Martin’s College of Art and Design in London, and then went off exploring Europe for a few years. After returning to the US, Paula received her BFA in Fine Arts and Art Education from Parsons School of Design, a division of The New School for Social Research.

She began teaching visual arts through the Guggenheim Museum’s Learning Through Arts Program, which led to her teaching at her alma mater, Parsons School of Design. Since then she has worked with several New York City public schools, while maintaining an ongoing partnership and residency with the New York-based nonprofit organization, Art For Progress. She has participated in both group and solo exhibitions throughout New York City. Some highlights are the Flying Saucer Café, Knaps Brooklyn, Dumbo Open Studios, the Reid Gallery, Studio Milo, and the Living Gallery.

Paula lives with her family in Brooklyn and continues to teach at Forsyth Satellite Academy.
